The Department of Public Defense, is hiring a Facility Maintenance Coordinator to work at the 185th Air Refueling Wing in Sioux City, IA to assist the Plant Operations Manager, Facility Manager and Base Civil Engineer in the day-to-day operations of facility maintenance program. This position acts as Lead over employees predetermined by the Plant Operations Manager, Facility Manager and Base Civil Engineer
This position must be able to clear and maintain a security clearance. This position may be required to obtain and maintain a Class B CDL with air brakes

The schedule is 8 hours a day for 5 days a week OR 10 hours a day for 4 days a week within the working days of Monday through Friday.

Additional Qualification Requirements
Within a period of time after hire, as determined by the appointing authority, employees in this class may be required to obtain current valid Driver’s License.
All of the following apply to Department of Transportation positions only:
Designated positions in this class require possession of a valid Commercial Learner’s Permit upon hire. Within a timeframe determined by the appointing authority, a valid Class A or B (level determined by the appointing authority) Commercial Driver’s License with the required endorsements and applicable restrictions must be obtained and subsequently maintained in order to continue employment.
If a CDL is not designated, all positions are required to have and maintain a minimum of a valid Class C Non-Commercial Operator’s License.
In conjunction with Title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations (parts 40 and 382), designated positions in this job class require a pre-employment drug screen and will require ongoing participation in the employer’s random drug and alcohol testing program and will be subject to the regulations regarding the Federal drug and alcohol testing program.
Prior to starting employment, all persons are required to have a post offer pre-employment physical verifying the physical ability to perform the duties described.
Travel, including overnight travel, may be required for positions in this class. Employees must arrange transportation to and from assigned work areas.
Employees must respond to emergency situations as required, including during non-routine working hours.

What You’ll Do
- Act as secondary facility maintenance point of contact for emergency, urgent, routine, and planned maintenance work order requests supporting IANG infrastructure. Identify maintenance requirements, schedule, and plan maintenance activities, and ensure repair completeness within scheduled repair time. Respond to maintenance requests and provide recommended solutions in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Perform facility maintenance and repair. Inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains facilities, grounds, building components, HVAC systems, lighting, electrical systems, mechanical systems, roofs, and structures. Documents field maintenance requests and prepares updates and submits completed in-progress project records and reports to Facilities Branch Chief and Production Controller. Maintains accountability of tool and materials.
- Identify, maintain, and analyze real property maintenance records. Collect and analyze facility maintenance data for trends, setting backlog priorities and for recommendations to Territory Field Engineer and FM Branch Chief. Maintain facility preventative maintenance schedules for all Units and buildings requiring Property Maintenance Records.
- Provided maintenance vehicle and tools. Maintain work vehicle and provided tools assigned.
- Review, inspect, assist, and provide guidance in meeting all required codes. Remain current and in compliance with Federal, State, and local codes related to maintenance responsibilities. Inspect, correct, document, and provide solutions for improving energy efficiency, means of egress, fire systems, mechanical and electrical systems, American's Disability Act issues, OSHA, force protection, physical security, and other required code features.

- Three years of full-time work experience in the building and trades industry.
- Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes one year of full-time work as a Maintenance Repairer.
