The Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing (DIAL) is seeking a capable and enthusiastic individual to join the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) as an Investigator 3.
Who We Are
It is the mission of the Iowa Medicaid Fraud Control Unit to maintain the integrity of the Iowa Medicaid program and the provision of Medicaid services by investigating allegations of fraud committed against the Iowa Medicaid program, fraudulent activities, and patient abuse pertaining to the provision of Medicaid goods and services.
What We’re Seeking
Investigators With The Medicaid Fraud Control Unit Conduct Criminal And Civil Investigations. The Position Reports Directly To The Bureau Chief, And Is Home-domiciled In Polk County Or Bordering/surrounding Counties. Desired Abilities Include
001 Investigative Work
6 Months’ Experience, 12 Semester Hours, Or a Combination Of Both In One Or In Any Combination Of The Below Areas Involving
Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major course work in law enforcement, corrections, criminology, police science, accounting, finance or law and experience equal totwo years of full-time work in law enforcement, corrections or criminal investigation;
OR
graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in an area not listed above and experience equal to three years of qualifying work;
OR
a combination of education and experience, substituting one year of qualifying full-time experience for each thirty semester hours of general college or university coursework;
OR
employees with current continuous experience in the State executive branch that includes experience equal to twelve months of full-time work as an Investigator 1 or 2, or in a comparable position involving investigative work experience.

Additional Qualification Requirements
Applicants for positions in the Department of Inspections and Appeals must undergo a background investigation which includes a criminal history check and a dependent adult and child abuse registry check.
As required for entry into the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy for designated positions, successful applicants must be of good moral character as determined by a thorough background investigation and not have been convicted of a felony or a crime of moral turpitude; applicants must be a United States citizen.
Some positions may require a valid driver's or chauffeur's license.

- Cooperate with local, state, and federal law enforcement partners and outside administrative/regulatory agencies
- Exhibit proficient computer skills to utilize case management system and other computer databases
- Maintain confidentiality of all case information
- Understand and apply state and federal laws, rules, and regulations, along with Medicaid programs and policies
- Complete necessary training as required by state, department, and unit policies
- Interact with the general public in a professional and courteous manner
- Testify in state and federal criminal, civil, and administrative hearings
- Communicate clearly and effectively in verbal and written form with others
001 Investigative Work
6 Months’ Experience, 12 Semester Hours, Or a Combination Of Both In One Or In Any Combination Of The Below Areas Involving
- Private investigation
- Insurance company investigations
- Parole/probation officers and similar investigative backgrounds such as misrepresentation/fraud investigations, or accident analyses
- Creating reports to determine cause or responsibility in illegal or inappropriate actions involving the public domain
Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major course work in law enforcement, corrections, criminology, police science, accounting, finance or law and experience equal totwo years of full-time work in law enforcement, corrections or criminal investigation;
OR
graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in an area not listed above and experience equal to three years of qualifying work;
