Job Description
The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking a Typist Advanced to join the Community Access and Eligibility Team. This is a full-time opportunity with a schedule of 8:00am – 4:30pm, Monday – Friday.
Job Duties:
This position will provide general clerical duties related to community access and eligibility support needs. This could include processing incoming/outgoing mail, greeting customers, answering phones, typing, and filing. The position will provide back up to other support staff as needed. Other duties may include entering data into a mainframe computer system, assembling and transferring files, ordering forms and supplies, and providing back-up coverage to other county offices. Newly hired staff are paid at the beginning of the pay scale.

- The ability to type at least 40 words per minute, **as verified by a typing test, and experience equal to one year of full-time clerical office support work.
- The ability to type at least 40 words per minute, as verified by a typing test, and a total of one year of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where one year of post-high school course work in an accredited secretarial, business, or closely-related curriculum or 30 semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
- Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes six months of full-time work as a Typist.

- Gross number of words typed in a five minute timed test
- Number of errors
- Net words per minute (one point deduction for each error)
- Your name and date must be on the document submitted to this office.
- And it must be signed off by a witness or another person not just from the typing website's electronic signature.
