SHIFT: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
DUTIES: This position (Typist Advanced) supports Social Workers, Income Maintenance Workers and Administrative staff by providing a variety of both general and specialized clerical tasks.
Employee assists with typing reports, narratives, forms, letters and correspondence. Will provide quality face to face and telephone customer service to Department of Health and Human Services customer’s by greeting, screening, routing and assisting those who contact our offices. Will assist Income Maintenance and Social Worker staff in prepping/scanning/imaging paper documents for uploading into electronic document management systems. Additional responsibilities include, processing incoming and outgoing mail, setting up and maintaining files, filing and management of closed case storage and destruction, maintaining computer case records. Will provide backup to other support staff in the Northern Iowa Service Area (NISA) as needed.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
- The ability to type at least 40 words per minute, **as verified by a typing test, and experience equal to one year of full-time clerical office support work.
- The ability to type at least 40 words per minute, as verified by a typing test, and a total of one year of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where one year of post-high school course work in an accredited secretarial, business, or closely-related curriculum or 30 semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
- Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes six months of full-time work as a Typist.

- Number of errors
- Net words per minute (one point deduction for each error)
