Perform duties associated with routine roadway and roadside maintenance including but not limited to the following: traffic control, mowing, removing litter and debris, patching pavement with asphalt and concrete, cleaning and repairing drainage, landscaping, repairing and installing guardrail, maintaining shoulders, and working on the District paint or bridge crew. Equipment used in these duties includes pick-ups, front end loaders, tractors, backhoes, mowers, and hand tools such as chain saws, pneumatic hammers, weed eaters and shovels.

Perform routine preventative maintenance and minor repairs on all assigned equipment. In the event of a roadway emergency such as a traffic accident, vehicle breakdown or stranded motorist, respond by calling emergency services, assisting motorists with basic repairs, or giving other basic assistance as needed.

Lift/lower, carry and push/pull various amounts of force within the 'heavy work' as defined by the US Department of Labor; team lift, or mechanical assist recommended for weights over 75 pounds. Climb, kneel, crouch, crawl, stoop, and twist and perform duties using appropriate tools and equipment within safety standards.

Pay

• No CDL: $19.76/hour
• With CDL: $20.76/hour
  
  

Temporary employment is available April 25, 2025 – October 9, 2025

Minimum Qualification Requirements

• Must possess a valid Driver’s License which must be maintained to continue employment.
• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age at time of hire.
• CDL is preferred, but not required.
