Position Summary :
IT Systems Software Analysis Programming focuses on programming configuration of IT Systems Software (i.e. software for use in operating / controlling hardware and providing a platform for running internal end user / business applications). Identifying and analyzing business needs, conducting requirements gathering, and defining scope and objectives for the IT System. Developing programming specifications, diagrams, and flowcharts. Writing code in lower-level programming languages to optimize the performance and efficiency of an organization's IT platform / infrastructure. Configuring, customizing, diagnosing, and enhancing vendor systems software (e.g., operating systems software and utilities that manage access to peripherals, facilitate networking, manage memory allocation, manage file storage on hard drives, etc.). Writing diagnostic programs to test integrated software / hardware systems and resolve system faults. Creating functional and technical documentation of systems software programs and code.
Qualifications :
Education : Bachelors Degree : Computer Science; Information Systems
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Qualifications : Successful completion of 18 hours in computer science coursework or certification and one year experience coding, testing, and debugging application programs or two years of experience coding, testing, debugging, and documenting application programs. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
Preferred Experience : OITS Education Requirement : Education : Associate degree in computer science, information technology, or related field. Experience : Minimum of three years of experience with proficiency in coding, testing, and debugging application programs. Familiarity with the phases of the SDLC, including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance. Experience in integrating security measures into software development processes. Proficiency in version control systems such as Git. (Preferred) Leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing. Demonstrate problem-solving skills to analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions. Technical Skills : Proficiency in at least one programming language relevant to the organization's technology stack such as Java, Python, C#, or others. Ability to write clean, efficient, secure, and maintainable code while adhering to coding standards, policies, and best practices. Ability to debug and troubleshoot software issues efficiently. Ability to work independently and contribute effectively to software development projects. Ability to create clear and concise technical documentation. (Preferred) Must be able to transform software designs into code using relevant programming languages and have knowledge of commonly used databases. Certification : (Preferred) Certification related to the programming language or technology stack used within the organization. Certifications in areas such as software development methodologies (e.g., Agile or Scrum).
Preferred Skills : Databases : Oracle, SQL Server. Preferred Computer Programming Languages : Visual Studio .Net / C#, Java, C . Bonus : PowerBuilder, Cobol, Unix.Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Proofreading, editing, & attention to detail.
Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements : KBI and FBI fingerprint required due to access to Federal Tax Information files in KDOR systems.
