LSU Shreveport seeks a self-motivating and enthusiastic team member to serve as Assistant Director of Financial Aid. The Assistant Director is the central administrator responsible for the management of the online student population.
Description
The Assistant Director of Financial Aid position is a 12-month unclassified position reporting to the Director of Financial Aid.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Coordinate all communications with online student population to increase engagement and resource awareness by maintaining website, creating emails, social media campaigns
- Collaborate with the Financial Aid Coordinators and Counselors to ensure online students’ needs are identify and resolved
- Manage all aspects of the packaging federal and state aid including, Louisiana Go Grant, SEOG, ProPell and Geaux Teach.
- Oversee monthly reconciliation of federal and state programs between federal agencies and the business office
- Oversee the Satisfactory Academic Progress annual review and end of semester check for students on probation and coordinates with other staff working on these functions
- Develop and maintain a strong culture of teamwork and collaboration within the Financial Aid Office and across campus with University offices and colleagues to meet students’ needs
- Evaluate business processes, make recommendations, and provide solutions to increase efficiencies for the office
- Remain current on all federal, state and institutional financial aid programs
- Counsel with students and parents and assist with the completion of financial applications
- Participate in activities designed for student recruitment and retention
- Provide financial aid presentations to area high schools and organizations when requested
- Organize and conduct on-campus and off-campus workshops to inform students about financial aid and the application process
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required. This position requires acute attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Candidate should possess excellent oral and written communication skills and must be committed to providing excellent customer service. Possess strong organizational and leadership skills. Provide guidance to other professional and support staff personnel. Preference is given to individuals who have at least three years of financial aid experience. Master’s degree preferred.
