About this position:The Maintenance Repairer 2 is domiciled on the Lafayette Campus and deployed to all campus locations. The position performs general repairs, upgrades and maintenance to all equipment and building systems associated with the physical plant. In addition, performs grounds-upkeep and other general duties to ensure all grounds and facilities are in line with departmental standards. Predictable and reliable attendance is required in order to provide consistency and continuity of business services.

Two years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or as a parks building and grounds attendant; OR
Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering; OR
Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.Function of Work:
To repair and maintain buildings, facilities, navigational locks, equipment, and appliances or to perform general maintenance functions on marine vessels and other related facilities.
Level of Work:
Experienced.

General from higher-level agency personnel.

Job Distinctions:
Differs from Maintenance Repairer 1 because of the expanded scope of journeyman repair work which includes installation of plumbing and electrical fixtures, equipment repairs, and repairs to marine vessels.
Differs from other maintenance jobs by the broad spectrum of trades functions and by the absence of specialized tasks.

• Services, repairs, and maintains all equipment as assigned or in accordance with preventative maintenance program.
• Performs major repairs, safety inspections, and upgrades to a variety of building systems as assigned.
• Troubleshoots any equipment issues and determines the best course of action for completing the repair.
• Keeps records of all work and preventative maintenance tasks as directed.
• Oversees the work of subordinate repairers as assigned.
