Mobile Equipment Operator 1 has an SER of $12.51 per hour.
Mobile Equipment Operator 2 has an SER of $13.37 per hour.

Job Distinctions:
Differs from Mobile Equipment Operator--Light by the requirement to operate larger mobile equipment with more complicated operating and handling characteristics.
Differs from Mobile Equipment Operator 2 by the restriction to primary operation of equipment that is lighter and/or less complicated to operate.
This position is responsible for performing day-to-day task required in the operation of a 1 million cubic foot, climate controlled, food storage facility using various pieces of mobile equipment (primarily forklifts). This facility is located in Baton Rouge and has a value of approximately five million dollars. The facility provides secure storage for food and commodities under varying ranges of temperature and humidity: one section for storage at -10° F, one at 0° F, one at 35 °F and one at 70° F. This position assists in the receipt, storage and distribution of USDA bulk commodities valued at approximately 5.6 million dollars. These commodities will be stored for and distributed to school systems, childcare feeding programs and charitable institutions (hospitals, correctional facilities, nursing homes, etc.) in the southwest and south central part of Louisiana that serve approximately 170,000 meals/day and represents approximately 31% of the state total. This position reports directly to the Food Distribution Program Manager.

Operates forklifts and electric pallet jacks to unload and stock incoming USDA commodities and load commodities ordered and picked up by recipient.
Primary equipment operated will be:
Forklift – 3-wheel with 3,000 pound lift capacity with Hi-Reach capability
Forklift – 5,800 pound lift capacity with Hi-Reach capability
Walk-Behind Model Pallet Jack - 4,000 pound lift capacity

Perform general warehouse maintenance and upkeep.

Perform spot check and annual physical inventories.

Identify and dispose of damaged and out of condition commodities

Functional Requirements:
- Light to moderate lifting, 30 pounds with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds
- Reaching above shoulders
- Walking and standing (8 hours)
- Occasional demands maybe required for moderately strenuous activities in emergencies over long periods of time
- Climbing on and off transport and tractor
Environmental Factors:
- Operators will be working in an extreme environment much of the time with freezer temperatures as low as -10 degrees Fahrenheit, up to 80 degrees
- Occasional excessive heat and humidity
- May be required to wear appropriate safety protection
- Slippery and uneven walking surfaces
