MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a current Louisiana Occupational Therapy Assistant license plus one year of experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
To provide technical occupational therapy services to a group of clients in an Occupational Therapy Clinic without immediate supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
Level of Work:
Advanced.
Supervision Received:
Broad review from a higher level Occupational Therapist or an administrative official.
Supervision Exercised:
May supervise Therapy Aides or Occupational Therapy Assistants.
Location of Work:
Health care facilities statewide.
Job Distinctions:
Differs from Occupational Therapy Assistant 2 by the responsibility for formulating treatment plans, reporting patient progress, and operating an Occupational Therapy clinic independently without immediate supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
Differs from Occupational Therapist 1 by the absence of independent responsibility of interpreting test results as it relates to physical functioning.
Implements individualized treatment plans and sets goals leading to maximum potential of the clients or patients.
Independently conducts occupational therapy sessions with individuals or groups of clients or patients utilizing therapeutic activities which lead to improved functioning.
Modifies or changes treatment methods according to changes in functional status after periodic evaluations.
Attends staffing of clients or patients to make recommendations to other professional staff regarding their progress.
Evaluates clients or patients progress, writes progress notes in charts, and reports same to physicians and treatment team.
Orders supplies and equipment for client or patient treatment and services.
