About the Job
We are seeking certified law enforcement officers and other highly qualified individuals with a minimum of Phase 1 pre-service training to join our team as Deputy Judicial Marshals. As a Judicial Marshal, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of each courthouse, responding to emergencies, and providing a safe and secure experience for judges, court staff, court participants, and members of the public.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide security arrangements for each court day and session as needed.
- Enforce the laws of the State of Maine within the courthouse, effect arrests when necessary, monitor surveillance equipment, and utilize x-ray equipment at entry screening areas.
- Observe all persons entering the courtroom, their movement, and their activities.
- Assist within the courtroom with the orderly flow of paperwork between the judge/justice, clerk's office, defendants, and other participants. Assist with the movement of evidence as requested.
