Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of the principles of analysis, management, and development issues.
- Knowledge of the practices and principles of policy planning and formulation.
- Knowledge of the structure and operations of related state and federal government programs. Knowledge and experience related to the volunteer and community service sector and the issues that impact capacity, sustainability, and development of the sector.
- Knowledge of requirements of the federal National and Community Service Trust Act and the Domestic Volunteer Service Act.
- Knowledge of best practices and effective strategies in securing philanthropic resources to support the work of the private support organization.
- Knowledge of and expertise in the ongoing engagement of an appointed public sector body, such as the Commission, including new member orientation as well as committee engagement.
- Ability to serve as a spokesperson for MCCS with federal, state, and local governments, as well as the general public. Ability to provide nimble and agile leadership in a dynamic political and regulatory environment.
- Ability to develop mutually beneficial partnerships with external organizations.
- Ability to effectively lead change and development through strategic planning.
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely in oral and written form with a variety of internal and external audiences.
- Ability to assess current operational practices and systems to ensure high-quality outputs and deliverables.
- Ability to build, lead, and inspire an effective staff team with accountability and the practice of emotional intelligence principles.
- Ability to utilize excellent listening and strong negotiation skills.
- Ability to lead and track programmatic goals and objectives, budgets, and financial forecasting.
- Ability to administer federal grant fund programs.
