POSITION DUTIES

The incumbent in this position functions as a senior Investigator and Administrator within OEEO. With nearly 9,000 employees, and a budget of close to $1.2 billion, the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services is one of the largest state agencies in Maryland. The Department’s functions include the operation of 3 correctional divisions that total 27 facilities, and 45 parole and probation supervision offices. The main purpose of this position is to serve as an Investigator with the Office of Fair Practices and Inclusion.� Day-to-day work includes investigating claims of discrimination, sexual harassment, bullying, and other unfair practices to ensure discipline is instituted where appropriate, updating policy where needed, and ensuring that staff and management are trained in employment compliance topics and legal expectations. The incumbent will review requests for reasonable accommodation in accordance with ADA regulations as directed by the EEO ADA Coordinator, assist with training DPSCS staff and OFPI new hires, and represent the Department during court or administrative proceedings. The senior investigator will collaborate with our alternative dispute resolution unit to recommend cases for potential settlement, coaching, or facilitation.� The individual will also collaborate with the Director of Data, Compliance and Education to develop and present on EEO topics and policies, maintain compliant data, and develop annual reports for the Executive Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:�Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience:�Six years of administrative staff or professional work. Notes: 1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience. 2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience. 3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience. 4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications. 1.��Experience in�handling investigations and/or complaints of discrimination and report writing. 2.��Experience in�auditing in the development of policies and procedures for EEO, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. 3.��Experience leading or training and developing others into an EEO Investigator who can process and handle investigations and/or complaints of discrimination that require a thorough analysis based on Federal and State employment policies, laws, and regulations.

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
