Introduction

Main Purpose of Job
This position will provide compensatory education services to students who have been identified through a specific determination process. These services include remediation and supplemental instruction towards identified educational IEP goals—monitor and document progress as evidenced by assessments and progress reviews. These services could be provided in one on one settings, or small group settings, during the school day, before and after school, as well as on the weekends. Services would be provided in person. Sessions range from 20-60 minutes, and can be once or several times a week for a specified number of weeks.\r\n
POSITION DUTIES
To\r\nperform this job successfully, an individual must be knowledgeable and perform\r\neach essential duty satisfactorily.\r\n\r\n\r\n Plan\r\n instruction, tutoring, practice and assessment in alignment with identified\r\n goals.\r\n Provide\r\n direct supplemental/remedial instruction services to identified students.\r\n Work\r\n with individual and small groups of students both within and outside of\r\n classrooms to assist students in achieving closing targeted academic goals.\r\n Implement\r\n best teaching practices to close the targeted academic gaps.\r\n Follow intervention plan\r\n (compensatory ed plan), monitor target students' performance, and collect data.\r\n\r\n\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:� Bachelor's degree required.\r\n\r\n\r\nCandidates must be eligible\r\nto apply for or be willing to obtain certification by the Maryland State\r\nDepartment of Education within a prescribed amount of time.� Fluency in\r\nAmerican Sign Language and written English required. �Knowledge of the\r\nDeaf culture, Deaf Education, students with additional disabilities and ability\r\nto teach students on different levels and with varying educational and language\r\nacquisition backgrounds is required.\r\n
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in Education or Special Education of Deaf students,\r\nMaryland State Department of Education Certification\r\n
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

BENEFITS
\r\n\r\nContractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.\r\nLeave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.\r\n\r\n\r\n
