Main Purpose of Job
This position serves as part of a team conducting financial and compliance follow-up audit reviews which involves evaluating action taken to resolve audit findings, determining whether corrective actions have been effectively and timely implemented and that the administration is maintaining compliance. Seeking an auditor with knowledge and expertise in information technology systems and security processes and internal controls. Must have good organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills. More specifically,� this position involves performing follow up reviews of Office of Legislative Audit report findings and recommendations and other external audits, special reviews, as assigned. Duties include working in coordination with the Audit Liaison Department. Effective May 15, 2024, an employee may be required to come into the office 2 days a week. This hybrid schedule will be agreed upon between the appointing authority, supervisor and employee and may be subject to change. The employee in this position must adhere to the updated Maryland State Telework Policy effective 5/15/24 and the updated IAC/S Telework Policy effective 5/22/24. IAC/S employees are required to disclose secondary employment: All employment (compensated and uncompensated) outside the department. An individual may not be employed with or receive compensation outside the department that would create conflict of interest, an appearance of a conflict of interest, or impair the impartiality and independence of judgement of the individual. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:�� A Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with 30 credit hours in accounting and related courses, including or supplemented by 3 credit hours in auditing. Experience: Three years of experience conducting financial and operational internal audits that include elements for finance and compliance, economy and efficiency, and program results. Notes: 1. Applicants who have met the requirements for admission to the CPA examination prior to July 1, 1974 will be considered to have met the educational requirement referenced above. 2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor or a master’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university�for one year of the required experience. 3. Candidates�may substitute one year of professional accounting experience for one year of the required�experience. 4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Internal Review classifications or Auditing specialty codes in the Financial or Auditing fields of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The desired candidate should possess the following: Experience in IT systems and security. Technical experience in systems auditing. Experience with drawing conclusions, making decisions and having strong communication.

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties may be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
