Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose for the Administrative Officer III Supervisor position is to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of several critical functions within the Department of Health (DOH). This position is responsible for supervising the vital records/records management staff, as well as, the supply/purchasing/storeroom staff, ensuring compliance with agency policies and procedures. The Administrative Officer III will manage and oversee the DOH vehicle fleet, including coordination, maintenance, and usage policies. In addition, this position will be responsible for record management processes and will serve as the building site coordinator for the Health Services Building. This position will serve as the back-up to the Director of the Office of Central Services in their absence, ensuring continuity of operations and decision-making. This position requires active involvement and hands on work.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:\tGraduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience:\tThree years of administrative staff or professional work.� Notes:� 1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to two years of the required experience.� 2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from a college or university for the required experience.� 3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included the regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

The desired candidate should possess: Experience organizing, prioritizing and multiple tasking Strong problem-solving and organization skills Excellent communication skills with close attention to detail both written and verbal Experience with office management software such as MS Office

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
