Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose for this position is to perform eligibility determination, health and nutrition screenings and referral services to WIC applicants. This position will provide basic nutrition counseling to WIC clients and issue benefits to eligible WIC participants. The WIC Service Associate will perform job functions at various clinic sites. This position will attend mandatory State WIC and Health Department meetings and outreach events.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:�� Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience: One year of experience in health or human service delivery, performing tasks such as program eligibility determination, health screening, client referral services, or nutrition education. Notes: 1.�Candidates may substitute the completion of 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required�experience. 2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Health�Services classifications or Health Services and specialty codes in the health-related field of work on a year-for-year�basis for the required experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
