Main Purpose of Job
The Nutrition Program Trainee is responsible for learning to research, plan & implement the nutrition & breastfeeding education plans according to state policy & procedure and learns to present these plans to participants through individual contacts. This position also provides specialized nutrition care not participants who are at a nutrition risk. This involves providing diet therapy counseling prepared for individuals with the preparation of care plans & follow up. This position also trains and educates the WIC paraprofessionals with agency in-services and learns to use checklists to assure staff are following policy & procedures. The trainee also learns how to keep staff up to date on dietary information through in-services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:�� A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Community Nutrition, Dietetics, Foods and Human Nutrition, Food Systems Management or Nutrition Education. Experience: None. Note:�Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Dietitian and Nutritionist classification or Dietitian and Nutritionist specialty codes in the Dietitian field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
