LOCATION OF POSITION

Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to provide supervision, leadership and managerial oversight to the Department Learning Resources, to include patient and staff library. The position will provide educational programs for staff and supervise nursing instructors, clerical and support staff and the Librarian. In conjunction with the Nursing department, this position will maintain the Maryland Board of Nursing accredited CNA program. This position functions under general supervision from the Chief of Clinical Operations or designee and is considered Emergency Essential. Employee must be able to: - teach and evaluate evening and night classes as necessary - perform CPR and PMAB - possess physical ability to train both clinical and support staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:�A Master's degree in Nursing or a related field from an accredited college or university. Experience: Three years of experience as a Registered Nurse to include two years as an instructor in a psychiatric setting. Note:�Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classifications or Nursing specialty codes in the Nursing Instruction field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The desired candidate should possess the following: 1. Experience assessing, planning, developing, implementing and evaluating training materials to meet the orientation and ongoing competency needs of hospital staff 2. Related accreditation needed for a psychiatric hospital and certification requirements 3. Experience providing operational guidance and leadership to a department's nursing instructors
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215 or possess a current multi-state license in party states that candidates have declared as primary states of residence. 2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties, which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland. 3. Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete and maintain a current certification of cardiopulmonary resuscitation training.
