Introduction

We at the Potomac Center/SETT facility provide quality person-centered supports to adults with intellectual disabilities at our campus in Hagerstown, Maryland. Our aim is to partner with the community to help our residents achieve their goals.The Potomac Center is a 62-bed licensed Intermediate Care Facility (ICF). This program focuses on using therapeutic interventions to empower residents as they learn the skills they need to successfully return to community living.

The Secure Evaluation and Therapeutic Treatment (SETT) Program, located within the Potomac Center campus, is a 32-bed licensed Forensic Residential Center that provides services to individuals with intellectual disabilities and court involvement within a safe and secure environment. The program provides assistance as they resolve their court involvement and work toward transitioning to a less secured environment. The SETT utilizes active treatment as well as providing evaluation, assessment and competency attainment education.

Main Purpose of Job

This position is charged with the duty of evaluating, diagnosing, admitting, treating patients, and making discharge and aftercare plans for the patients admitted to the Potomac Center/SETT facility. All clinical activities and duties are to be carried out in accordance with Potomac Center/SETT policies, rules and regulations, performance improvement goals and within the fiscal constraints mandated to the facility. This position consults and collaborates with other members of the treatment team. All clinical activities are to be documented in the medical record as required by Potomac Center/SETT policies. This position supports the mission of the organization through active participation in clinical efforts to provide treatment in a recovery-oriented environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses under the certification requirements for Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric.

Experience: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses under the certification requirements for Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric classification or Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess the following:
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience working with mentally and intellectually challenged populations

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current certificate as a Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
