The Governor's Office of Crime Prevention and Policy serves as a coordinating office that advises the Governor on criminal justice strategies. The office plans, promotes, and funds efforts with government entities, private organizations, and the community to advance public policy, enhance public safety, reduce crime and juvenile delinquency and serve victims.

Main Purpose of Job
The Victim Services Advocate is responsible for providing all manner of direct service assistance to include, but not limited to; application assistance, crisis intervention, status updates, hearings assistance as well as providing resource information to crime victims and their families, as well as stakeholders. Additionally, the Victim Services Advocate will develop and implement a formal internal and external programmatic training regimen for agency staff, as well as community partners and stakeholders as it pertains to both victim services and the overall agency processes, procedures and general knowledge as it pertains to crime victims' effective navigation of the agency. The Victim Services Advocate will assist with Emergency Award claims and follow through to completion.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Four years of administrative staff or professional work.

1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for- year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Our preferred candidate will have the following experience/skillset:
One year experience in each of the following areas:
Working with victims of crime as it relates to helping them navigate state services.
Working with law enforcement, state's attorneys offices, courts, funeral homes and or hospitals in the process of assisting crime victims.
