AI Engineer and Data Science Intern

The Executive Office for Administration and Finance (A&F) plans and executes fiscal and administrative policies that serve to ensure the financial stability, efficiency, and effectiveness of state government. The key responsibilities of A&F include managing the operational and capital budgets of the Commonwealth and managing funds received from the federal government. A&F IT is a unit under the Executive Office for Administration & Finance (A&F) and is overseen by the Secretariat Chief Information Officer (SCIO). A&F IT is a team of approximately 300 skilled and committed IT professionals who develop and maintain technical solutions that address business challenges for Executive Office of Administration and Finance agencies. As an AI Engineer and Data Science Intern, the student will work closely with Digital Analytics & AI team of experts to design, develop, and deploy innovative AI-powered solutions that drive business value. Project responsibilities will include :

• Data Analysis : Collect, process, and analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform business decisions.
• AI Model Development : Design, train, and test AI models using various algorithms (e.g., machine learning, deep learning) to solve complex problems.
• Data Visualization : Create interactive dashboards and reports to effectively communicate insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Collaboration : Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., data scientists, analysts, developers, project managers) to integrate AI-powered solutions into our services.
• Research and Development : Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI and data science, identifying new opportunities for innovation and growth. Requirements :
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Java, Python etc.
• Ability to work with AI frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras
• Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or D3.js
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work collaboratively and effectively communicate ideas and insights
• Strong understanding of machine learning concepts and algorithms Preferred Qualifications :
• Experience with cloud-based platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
• Knowledge of natural language processing (NLP) and / or computer vision techniques
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and version control systems like Git This position is assigned to A&F IT’s offices at MITC, 200 Arlington Street in Chelsea, Massachusetts. Currently, this position will require in-person and virtual presence, as assigned by the supervisor.
