POSITION DUTIES - This position will conduct a full range of driver assessment reexaminations with citizens throughout the State of Michigan, either in person or via the use of videoconferencing equipment. The analyst in this position should have knowledge and expertise in the area of reviewing and evaluating medical statements, vision statements, rehabilitation evaluations, substance abuse evaluations and applying state physical and mental standards. The analyst will administer appropriate licensing controls as provided for in the Michigan Vehicle Code and department policy. The analyst also assists branch staff, courts, law enforcement, and Lansing-based central office staff in interpreting medical statements, vision statements, rehabilitation evaluations, and substance abuse evaluations. Routine travel is required in this position including overnight stays.

The preferred candidate has experience meeting one-on-one with individuals, observing individual behaviors, asking direct questions, and communicating in a manner that is easily understandable and respectful. The preferred candidate also has experience reading and interpreting Michigan driving records, and knowledge of medical conditions that may affect a person's ability to drive safely. 


APPOINTMENT TYPE/BENEFITS - This position is Full-Time. Therefore, you would be eligible to participate in the benefits offered by the state.

No specific type or amount is required. 

Departmental Analyst 10
One year of professional experience. 

Departmental Analyst P11
Two years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate (10) level in state service. 

Departmental Analyst 12
Three years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the experienced (P11) level in state service.

Departmental Analyst (Departmental Trainee) 9

Education-
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.

Experience-
Four years of experience as an advanced 9-level worker in an ECP Group One classification.

OR

Three years of experience as an E9, E10, or E11-level worker in an ECP Group One classification.

OR

Two years of experience as an experienced level worker in an ECP Group One technician or paraprofessional classification.

OR

Two years of experience as a first-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification.
 
OR

One year of experience as a second-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification.

*Paraprofessional classifications are those requiring an associate’s degree or two years of college.

Educational Substitution-
College credits may be substituted on a proportional basis (one year of college education may substitute for one quarter of the required experience) for up to one half of the required experience.

Position requires incumbent possess and maintain a valid driver's license, in accordance with agency's driving record standards.

Position requires incumbent to obtain and hold a valid Certified Michigan Notaries Public License.

Position requires incumbent be a United States Citizen and pass a thorough background investigation to comply with Public Act 7 of 2008, Public Act 23 of 2008, and the Memorandum of Agreement between the State of Michigan and the Department of Homeland Security.
