This position serves as a lead worker responsible for assigning, training, and directing the work of lower-level technicians. This position is responsible for leading and performing a variety of technician assignments with in the Reimbursements section for the Kalamazoo Psychiatric Hospital. Determine financial liability for KPH patients, per the Michigan Mental Health Code, Administrative Rules, DCH Policies and Procedures, which includes verifying third party benefits, applying for health insurance benefits, if necessary, and determining county of liability/financial responsibility. Post patients medical claim liabilities and cash receipts into patients Care & Maintenance accounts (Accounts Receivable). Assist with reconciliations of patients Care & Maintenance accounts. Provide support to the accounting function of the Business Office on Reimbursement matters. Perform the hospitals Cashiering duties when needed. This position will be the recognized resource and lead worker for training other Departmental Technicians within Reimbursement to ensure that tasks assigned by the Departmental Manager are completed as needed or instructed. This position will review other Departmental Technicians documents for completeness and accuracy prior to submission to the Departmental Manager for signature.

Experience
Departmental Technician 10
Two years of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
OR
Two years of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
OR
Three years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the experienced level in state service.Departmental Technician 10

Position Location/Remote Office: This position is located at 1312 Oakland Drive, Kalamazoo, MI, 49008 and the selected incumbent will be required to physically report to this office. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.
Employees will be provided computers to perform state work. Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely, employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including:
o A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions.
o A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
o Suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.
