Job Description
We’re looking for a new team member in the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) Office of Passenger Transportation (OPT), where our mission is to provide a safe and balanced statewide network of passenger transportation services to meet the social, safety and economic well-being of the state.
This position provides technical support to OPT by assisting the management team and staff in executing key program functions. Responsibilities include but are not limited to managing and analyzing data related to passenger transportation programs, ensuring accuracy in data entry, verification, and maintenance of transit-related information, including regulatory compliance and vehicle inventories. The role also supports staff communications with external stakeholders through various formats, coordinates logistics for training sessions and conferences, and facilitates the procurement and management of vehicles and technology resources for OPT staff.
This position ensures operational efficiency, adherence to state and federal regulations, and the seamless execution of departmental initiatives.
The "Salary" listed above is a range that reflects the minimum rate at the entry (7) level through the maximum rate at the experienced (E9) level. Based on education and experience, candidates will be reviewed to determine what level they are qualified for.

Required Education And Experience
Education
Education typically acquired through completion of high school.
Experience
Departmental Technician 7
One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service.
Departmental Technician 8
One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service.
OR
One year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service.
Departmental Technician E9
One year of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
OR
One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
OR
Two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate level in state service.
Alternate Education And Experience
Departmental Technician 7
Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Departmental Technician 8
Possession of a Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Departmental Technician E9
Possession of a Bachelor’s degree and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.
