This position serves as the Noncommunity Drinking Water program analyst for analyzing and reporting technical drinking water and environmental health program activities related to the requirements of the Michigan Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), Act 399 of 1976. The position works with compliance and enforcement information related to approximately 9,600 noncommunity drinking water supplies supervised by 44 local health departments (LHD) under contract with EGLE.This position gathers, reviews, and summarizes data used to assess compliance with program requirements and to assess impacts of program strategies and regulations for protecting public health. This position is responsible for stewarding data, determining compliance, and updating reports.Under the guidance and direction of the supervisor or senior staff, this position uses their science background as they learn about existing laws, rules, and policies. With time, they become a resource who is relied upon to provide information derived from data to assist with program evaluations, compliance determinations, enforcement actions, and to improve data quality.Position DescriptionThe work location of this position will be either Constitution Hall in Lansing or the Bay City, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Jackson, or Warren District Office based on the selected candidate. However, the selected candidate may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule (combination of remote and in-person) or a fully remote work schedule (with occasional travel to the official work location). Employees approved for schedules that include remote work must complete that work within Michigan. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed. When working remote, employees must use a designated workspace that is safe and professionally appropriate, allows for privacy, minimizes distractions, and includes secure internet access. Details regarding work location and schedule options for this position may be discussed during the interview process.

Education Possession of a bachelor's degree in the biological sciences, engineering, physical sciences, resource development, or resource management.ORPossession of a bachelor's degree in any major with at least 30 semester (45 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: biochemistry, biology, botany, chemistry, crop and soil science, engineering, environmental health, environmental science, forest management, geology, ecology, meteorology, microbiology, physics, remote sensing, resource development, resource management, toxicology, or zoology.Experience Environmental Quality Analyst 9No specific type or amount is required.Environmental Quality Analyst 10 One year of professional experience equivalent to an Environmental Quality Analyst 9.Environmental Quality Analyst P11 Two years of professional experience equivalent to an Environmental Quality Analyst including one year equivalent to an Environmental Quality Analyst 10.
