SALARY: $55,000 - $75,000, based on experience

What You’ll Do
As the Human Resources & Payroll Specialist, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while also assisting with key HR functions. Your work will directly impact 450 employees, including Senators and Senate staff, making sure they receive the support and resources they need. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing Biweekly Payroll: Oversee payroll processing, maintain timekeeping records, and ensure data accuracy across multiple systems.
- HRIS & Data Management: Maintain time and absence tracking, process personnel actions, and ensure compliance with payroll policies.
- Employee Support & Problem-Solving: Serve as the go-to expert for payroll and timekeeping inquiries, assisting employees with any issues.
- Personnel & Compensation Coordination: Process salary changes, leave payouts, wage garnishments, and vendor payments.
- Process Improvement: Identify and recommend best practices for HRIS and payroll systems to enhance efficiency.

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred.
- 5 years of payroll/timesheet processing experience preferred.
- Experience with State of Michigan payroll systems (SIGMA, Infor/HRMN, Workday) is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to process large amounts of data accurately.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills—you enjoy working with people and resolving issues.
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
- High level of confidentiality, professionalism, and discretion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and HRIS/payroll software.
