STOREKEEPER 5-7

This is the intermediate level where the employee performs a range of storekeeper assignments in a learning capacity such as part of on-the-job training; will require close supervision. Functions of this position will include but are not limited to, documentation of work assignments, assisting with the issuing of clothing and linen items to prisoners, filling orders, monitoring the loading and unloading of trucks, stocking shelves, assist with documenting inventory levels and with preparing daily, weekly and monthly reports. This position is located within the secure perimeter of a secure Level 1facility.

One year of experience in the storage, handling and distribution of materials, or in the operation of mail handling and sorting machines, and related equipment.

Storekeeper 7
Three years of experience in the storage, handling and distribution of materials, or in the operation of mail handling and sorting machines, and related equipment, including two years equivalent to the Storekeeper E6.Some positions within this class series are assigned job duties that may require possession of the Commercial Driver's License (CDL) issued by the Secretary of State as required by Public Act 346 of 1988 to operate a designated state vehicle.

The Department of Corrections will not hire individuals who have been convicted of a felony or who have felony charges pending, in accordance with Public Act 140 of 1996.

New hires to the MDOC along with previous MDOC employees that are returning after being away from the department for more than two years will complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET) either 40 hours or 80 hours of initial in-person training based on their level of offender contact and job classification.  All new employees will complete additional online training to successfully complete their non-custody new employee training. PLEASE NOTE: Overnight travel may be required for NCNET.
