Job Summary
The Administrative Assistant to the Dean is responsible for providing ongoing assistance to the Dean including assistance and support in the processes of scheduling, budgeting, and hiring as well as other projects as assigned. The Administrative Assistant to the Dean is responsible for an administrative area supporting complex programs. The tasks are broad in scope. They include working within procedures that can be clearly defined but also responding to issues that may have no immediate solutions. The Assistant to the Dean must be able to initiate a wide range of activities to ensure that services and program deadlines are met. They will direct the work of department work study students to ensure that academic program areas are supported.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Excellent human relations and communication skills; oral, written and listening.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Effective planning, organization, prioritization and evaluation skills.
- Creativity and the ability to develop and improve systems, processes, service, and information.
- Experience working with diverse groups of people.
- The ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- The ability to troubleshoot, anticipate problems, and develop or recommend effective solutions.
- Spreadsheet, data base management, and word processing software experience sufficient to create, format, edit, print, and save a variety of documents including letters, email messages, presentations, flyers and spreadsheets.
- Social media application experience in order to assist with posting and promotion.
- Ability to adhere to State, System, and College policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Budgeting/Expense knowledge and skills in order to provide accurate information for budget reports and information to support decision-making.
- Familiarity with the Minnesota State College and Universities system.

- Ability to perform work that requires the following transport strengths:
- Occasional transport up to 20 lbs.
- Ability to perform in a work environment which may include the following physical functions:
- Frequent: Maintain stationary position for long periods of time, move through areas to monitor training, communicate effectively with customers/stakeholders.
