This new cabinet-level agency brings together programs centered on children and families, including child care and early learning, child support, child safety and permanency, economic support and food assistance, and youth opportunity. The new Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) Agency became effective on July 1, 2024.
Job Summary
Hybrid Eligible. ***Employees may generally telework up to 50% of their scheduled workdays in a month; Employees that live 75 miles or more from their permanent/principal work location and live within the State or a county bordering the State may telework more than 50% with approval.
As Deputy Director, Child Support, you will be a part of the executive leadership team for the child support division within the Family Well-being Administration at the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF). You will direct the strategic planning, coordination, administration, operational functions, and program services of the Child Support Division (CSD) and to provide the daily direction of the child support program.
- Strategic Planning – lead and direct division functions so that program implementation, operations, and decision-making will be carried out with maximum effectiveness, efficiency, and service to the public.
- Program Leadership and Support – leads the coordination of division initiatives, collaborates with division leadership team.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with partners, stakeholders, and other interested parties to ensure consideration of their concerns in departmental decision-making and to ensure that quality customer service is provided.
- Operational direction and support – Determine operational objectives for the division.
- Personnel – Maintain a workforce that is committed to public service, culturally competent, readily adaptable to new situations and constantly learning and growing. This position will manage the personnel functions for the program services areas of the division.
- Decision-making authority – Assumes responsibility of primary decision-maker on behalf of the CSD director.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Professional leadership or supervisory experience and two (2) years of experience managing programs that in child support services, family law, or a related field and working with child support guidelines, including strategic planning and directing the work of staff.
OR
Five (5) years of professional leadership or supervisory experience managing programs in child support services, family law, or a related field and working with child support guidelines
Experience must demonstrate the following:
- Strong knowledge of federal and state laws governing child support, family law, and court procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Strategic planning, coordination and administration of operational functions
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- A commitment to advancing positive outcomes in diversity, equity, inclusion, and antiracism for colleagues and the people DCYF serves.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of state and federal government programs and their interrelationships and an understanding of human services policy and procedures,
- Ability to work with executive leadership.
- Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.
