Job Summary
Military Security Guards provide 24 hour a day security coverage. Days off will vary according to the shift you are assigned to. Journeyman level, experienced security work in support of a National Guard facility. Provide protection and security for aircraft, persons, and property on a National Guard facility. Enforce regulations and rules. Control entry to and egress from designated entry and exit points. Guard against terrorism, vandalism, and burglary. Patrol perimeters, storage areas and other buildings for suspicious or unusual conditions or incidents. Report any unusual conditions or incidents. Regulate movement in and out of restricted areas and buildings to ensure admittance of only authorized personnel. Conduct searches of persons and property, within jurisdictional limitations. Provide information upon request to the public but staying within the guidelines of Operational Security (OPSEC). Apply first aid when required. Assist in building evacuation and searching buildings for explosives or other dangerous substances when required. Enforce traffic laws and regulations. Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain log records. Monitor alarm equipment and intrusion detection systems (IDS) and initiate appropriate response forces. Provide other service necessary to secure location resources and personnel as approved by the Installation Force Protection Office.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Able to pass a complete criminal background investigation.
- Possess (or are able to obtain) the appropriate military security clearance.
- Public relations skills sufficient to effectively deal with the public, building tenants and visitors.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions sufficient to react quickly and appropriately in emergency situations.
- Ability to speak and read English sufficient to read and apply security procedures, write reports and deal with customers.
- Able to pass a medical evaluation.
- Able to pass a physical ability & agility evaluation.
- Possess a valid Class D (basic/standard) state driver's license.
- Eligible under applicable Federal/Minnesota law to carry a firearm and have completed (or have the ability to successfully complete) approved firearms training.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completed a Law Enforcement degree (2 or 4-year degree)
- Law Enforcement experience
- Military experience
- Military Police experience
- EMT/First Responder qualified
Physical Requirements
- Physical ability sufficient to run distances1.5 Miles in 17.5 Minutes
- Physical ability to drag 150lbs
- Hearing in both ears, vision in both eyes, must be able to lift up to twenty pounds, must be
capable of standing for prolonged periods and able to walk moderate distances and climb stairs.
- Will comply with the grooming and uniform standards outlined in State of Minnesota Policy while on duty.
- Ability to detain a resisting subject
