- This position has a flexible work arrangement that may allow for Telework or a mixture of working in our office and Telework with occasional meetings in the office.
- Minimum travel, up to approximately 5% .The incumbent in this role performs research and provides legal advice and strategies to assigned business units of the Department’s Office of Inspector General (OIG), Department staff and counsel whose work intersects with OIG, regulated providers and programs, and the general public regarding application of statutes and rules under the OIG’s jurisdiction.Responsibilities include but are not limited to : Conduct legal analysis and provide legal advice and practical assistance to Department policy staff and General Counsel’s Office in development and implementation of federal programs, the state plan, and grants to assure inclusion of program integrity aspects that are enforceable by Department staff in incumbent’s assigned business units.Minimum Qualifications : JD degree from an ABA accredited law school;Current license and in good standing to practice law in Minnesota;At least five (5) years’ experience as a practicing attorney in an area of law related to the position.Experience must demonstrate the following : Strong legal research, analysis, and writing skills;Ability to develop legal advice and litigation strategies independently;Building and maintaining good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders;Providing legal advice to executive leadership on diverse and complex human services and data privacy matters;Litigation and negotiation experience; andExperience in multiple areas of law.Preferred Qualifications Experience in administrative law related to the work of the assigned business areas, and other areas of law related to Department of Human Services (DHS) programs.Additional Requirements To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.REFERENCE / BACKGROUND CHECKS - The Department of Human Services will conduct reference checks to verify job-related credentials and a criminal background check prior to appointment.WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
