Work involves performing moderately complex desk and field audits to ascertain facts regarding agency programs. Incumbents prepare reports of activities, maintain accurate records of findings, and testify in court or administrative hearings as necessary. The work requires frequent contact with other governmental agencies, professional associations, and the general public. Incumbents are required to exercise independent judgment, manage multiple on- going investigations, and demonstrate strong time-management skills. Incumbents use expertise to train new auditors in desk and field investigations. The work requires frequent contact with other governmental agencies, professional associations, and medical professionals. This position requires the utilization of intuition, logic, analytical ability, technical knowledge, and both written and oral communication skills. This position is responsible for applying auditing, coding, and social science research methods to evaluate and identify any suspicious billing practices.
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and 1-4 years of experience.
