The Compliance and Technology Unit in the Underground Storage Tanks (UST) Section is seeking a motivated Environmental Program Supervisor who can play a pivotal role in compliance at UST facilities and enforcement activities. You’ll work with a diverse group of team members and stakeholders pertaining to UST inspections, environmental compliance reviews, enforcement activities, and the clean-up underground storage tank projects.
- Implement department regulations, polices, and guidance in a consistent manner and communicate both in writing and verbally with a variety of parties.
- Review UST inspections, repair, and compliance records to determine if facilities are maintaining compliance with the laws and regulations.
- Provide technical assistance to the regulated community, the general public, the EPA, public officials, the media, etc.
- Coordinate enforcement activities with the General Counsel’s Office, Attorney General’s Office, EPA and others.
- Provide guidance and supervision to the Environmental Program Specialist and the Environmental Program Analyst’s regarding UST compliance.
- Support the Tanks Section in other program level projects.
- This position could include occasional travel.
- Bachelor’s degree and 4-6 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions maybe allowed.)
- Organization: to effectively prioritize work assignments and manage multiple tasks with varying timelines.
- Ability to understand and interpret Tanks Law and Regulations and regulatory language, analyze issues and provide solutions.
- Ability to apply broad application of tank compliance issues, financial responsibility issues, and enforcement knowledge.
- Oral and written communication: makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others; and comfortable in dealing with people.
- Training, certification, and/or education in continuous process improvement programs such as Lean Six Sigma as well as completion of Missouri Way, Leadership Academy, and similar programs is preferred.
