This is a highly skilled position that requires excellent project management and leadership skills and ability to work independently. This position is responsible for coordinating and implementing MODDC’s five-year state plan. It provides leadership in coordinating and facilitating the design of new and innovative programs/services including establishing program goals/objectives, program policies/procedures, and implementation and achievement of outcomes and monitoring program activities.

Project Coordinator’s area of focus, specific to individuals with disabilities and their families include:

  • Leadership development,
  • Employment,
  • Transportation, and
  • Technology.

Project Coordinators utilize strong verbal and written communication skills for preparing reports on program accomplishments, activities, and need while making recommendations for program & statewide policy changes that lead to systems change and inclusive opportunities for individuals with DD.

Some travel, evening, and weekends may be required.

Position Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • Review and/or write grant proposals that solicit the development, coordination and implementation of innovative projects/solutions that will lead to systems change through strengthening advocacy efforts as identified and supported by the Council.
  • Track data and outcomes resulting from Council efforts.
  • Review and/or write grant proposals that solicit the development, coordination and implementation of innovative projects/solutions that will lead to systems change.
  • Monitor the outcomes of projects implemented by grant recipients and prepare monitoring reports on the program accomplishments and activities and make recommendations for program changes.
  • Develop written materials, papers, memos, presentations, grants/contracts and other communications that support and promote the Council’s values in strengthening advocacy of individuals with developmental disabilities and parents of children with disabilities.
  • Research best practice information from across the country, working with committee leaders and stakeholders to address barriers and craft innovative strategies and approaches to reducing those barriers for individuals with DD.
  • Develop presentations regarding MODDC's focus on efforts or issues that affect people with DD and their families, especially in supporting families to advocacy groups, community groups, provider groups, state agency and inter-agency teams.
  • Provide technical assistance to Committees of MODDC.
  • Develop, coordinates and directs major grants for statewide projects, critically reviews applications, provides on-going monitoring of activities and budgets, and evaluates the end product for system change and as a basis for follow-up proposals to sustain and expand initial system change efforts.
  • Provide training and support to potential RFP applicants, develops and manages proposal contracts and project budgets.
  • Coordinate statewide opportunities such a public forums, listening sessions or think tanks for people with DD and their families to provide information regarding their experience with the DD service system. This information is shared with relevant state agencies as well as providers of services and technical assistance is provided with the expectation that systems change will occur related to supporting families who have a member with DD.
  • Take on leadership roles and attend statewide boards, taskforces and other groups to influence systems change in the area of emphasis, education as well as supporting families.

The ability to make quick decisions, work well under deadlines, build relationships, and successfully manage multiple assignments is essential. A commitment to a strong collaborative work ethic, a poised and professional demeanor, and a passion for the success of MODDC's mission are key attributes to this position. The ideal candidate will be open to a wide variety of people and ideas, friendly and welcoming, able to empathize with others while maintaining emotions and a professional demeanor and demonstrate clear verbal and written communication skills. Successful candidates will also have strong computer skills, and be proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, OneNote, Doodle, Zoom, WebEx, and similar online tools. Two years of project coordination or equivalent experience is preferred.
