Quality Improvement Specialist
St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center – South, 5300 Arsenal St. St. Louis, MO. 63139
This position is a Quality Improvement Specialist focusing on regulatory compliance for children and adult psychiatric hospitals. The children’s hospital is accredited with the Joint Commission hospital and behavioral health manuals and A tags with CMS. The adult hospital is accredited with the Joint Commission through the hospital manual and one certified unit. This position reports to the Quality Management department and communicates with leadership and multi-disciplinary teams to monitor, implement and correct healthcare compliance.
- Provide Joint Commission hospital and behavioral health manual, and CMS A tag information to the organization
- Organizing monthly mock surveys for three campuses
- Working with leaders on action plans from mock surveys, tracers or surveys
- Monthly Facility education regarding compliance with Joint Commission and CMS A tags
- Weekly walks on the units for all three campuses
- Collects data after Joint Commission or CMS surveys
- Monthly report on compliance to facility leadership
- Expert for hospital and behavioral health TJC chapters and CMS hospital tags
- Member of Provision Of Care and Patient Rights for both facilities
- Annual review of policies
- Bi-annual compliance matrix to leadership
- Creates training materials related to standards
- Attendance at TJC and CMS training then reports information to QM and leadership
- Monitors practice against policy
- Attends the Infection Control rounds
- Other duties as assigned
Required Eligibility:
- Bachelor’s degree in safety, public health, environmental health, occupational safety, healthcare field or other related field
- Two (2) years’ experience related to workplace safety, environmental science, regulatory compliance, healthcare life safety, or healthcare environment of care.
- Two (2) years in healthcare administration/healthcare policy interpretation.
