As the Director of a Missouri Veterans Cemetery you will be responsible for the administration and operation of one of our five Veterans Cemeteries. This position supervises the administrative and maintenance personnel and is frequent contact with individuals and families in various stages of bereavement. As the Director you will be responsible for determining internment eligibility and coordinate interment schedules and oversee the cemetery budget.

Annual Salary : $48,214.32

- Knowledge of Missouri Veterans Commission mission and vision statements

Physical Requirements:
- Physical requirements and activities include: balancing, finger dexterity, pulling, pushing, standing, climbing, grasping, stooping, crouching, crawling, kneeling, squatting, reaching both outwards and overhead, lifting and moving materials (occasionally in difficult work positions), repetitive motions, frequent washing of hands, and general physical activities requiring a full range of mobility in upper and lower body.
- Must be able to work with some physical discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, occasionally in confined spaces, on ladders and rooftops, and in adverse weather conditions
Job Description Summary:
- Responsible for determining eligibility for interment in accordance with Department of Veterans Affairs
- Coordinate interment schedules with funeral homes, representatives of the deceased, military funeral honors program, and military casualty assistance officers
- Oversee of cemetery budget including planning, executing and projecting expenses and equipment and personal services
- Development and implementation of facility and equipment maintenance programs
- Establishment and enforcement of comprehensive safety program
- Ensure compliance with Missouri Veterans Commission policies and federal, state, and local government agencies in matters relating to the Veterans cemetery
- Establish short and long-range planning goals for the operation of the cemetery
- Maintain database tracking records of interment related activities
- Lead, plan, and participate in various types of outreach activities to enhance awareness of the cemetery program
- Attend regional and national cemetery related conferences and training classes
- Assign and supervise daily activities of cemetery staff
- Evaluate appearance of cemetery grounds and facilities to ensure consistent compliance with established National Cemetery Administration Operational Standards and Measures
- Supervise interment services and assist funeral directors and family members as needed
- Counsel Veterans and family members on benefits of the Cemetery program and assist with pre-certification process
- Refer Veterans and family members to appropriate sources for information about potential state and federal benefits
- Other duties as assigned
