The Office of Economic Assistance and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Administrative Technician for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Collector. In this key role, you will play a vital part in supporting clients and service providers with SNAP debt collections and payments, ensuring that essential resources reach those in need.
About the Role:
As an Administrative Technician for SNAP Collections, you will help manage the debt collection process, ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, and maintain accurate records for SNAP program clients. You’ll contribute directly to the efficient operation of the DHHS and assist in providing resources that support your community.

Wage: $17.498 per hour
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

What we are looking for:
We are looking for candidates who are detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Ideal candidates will be passionate about helping others and providing excellent customer service. Experience in administrative or clerical roles, particularly involving data management or payments, is preferred but not required. We seek individuals who have problem-solving and negotiation skills and are comfortable handling sensitive situations with professionalism. Candidates should be eager to learn about state and federal regulations and contribute to process improvements. The ideal candidate thrives in both independent and team-based environments and enjoys making a difference in their community by supporting clients in accessing essential resources.
Key Responsibilities:
- SNAP Collections: Respond to client inquiries regarding SNAP debts and collection processes, negotiate payment arrangements, and set up repayment plans in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Payments Processing: Verify payment methods, process checks, manage returned payments, and handle requests for payment replacements.
- US Bank ReliaCard Management: Assist with internal and external inquiries related to US Bank ReliaCard payments and update client information as needed.
- Administrative Duties: Create and update operational manuals, assist in training new personnel, and organize work assignments to meet departmental goals.
- Continuous Improvement: Offer feedback on work processes and contribute to efficiency improvements within the team.
Requirements/Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Coursework/training or experience related to research, presentation, or publication in an area related to the programs or functions of the employing agency; business administration; accounting; customer service; and/ or technical support work, including use of computer software such as word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with NFocus Eligibility system. Bi-lingual English and Spanish.

- Knowledge of: administrative and office processes and procedures and associated computer applications such as word processing, file management, record keeping, and database management; customer service processes and principles; specialized processes and terminology associated with assigned work.
- Skill in: active listening; asking questions; understanding instructions; using word processing; creating spreadsheets, charts, graphs, and reports; managing time, schedules, and priorities; monitoring and assessing program performance; applying critical thinking techniques.
- Ability to: formulate and recommend alternative courses of action; communicate and exchange information and ideas with others; interpret and apply policies, procedures, and regulations; track and monitor information; retrieve information from a variety of sources; maintain confidential records.
