DUTIES:
Teaches psychoeducational classes. Interacts with inmates to instruct and orient to the Acute/Sub-Acute/Chronic-Care Units. Provides verbal de-escalation for inmates in these units. Provides input into individualized treatment plans. Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings, staffing meetings, and informal consultations. Attends Mental Health trainings, and any additional trainings deemed necessary for the position. Assist with security procedures in Acute/Sub-Acute/Chronic-Care Mental Health Units. Writes Incident Reports and Contact Notes. Develops and implements Behavioral Baselines. Reviews Individualized Treatment Plans to support goals and objectives. Works under supervision and direction of the Mental Health Supervisor.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Associate's degree in criminal justice, behavioral science, human services or related field OR two years of experience working with persons referred through the legal system. Must be at least 18 years of age. No felony or domestic abuse related convictions.
Preferred Requirements: One year of corrections experience and/or experience working in the mental health field.
Other: Must have a valid driver's license. Transcripts required at time of appointment. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass a medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.
