Come join a group of dynamic people carrying out the Nebraska Department of Transportation's (NDOT) mission to provide the best possible transportation system for Nebraskans.
As NDOT's content writer, you are responsible for sharing NDOT's story by taking what is happening in the agency and telling it to internal teammates, other state agencies, stakeholders, the public and the media in traditional and digital form. Responsibilities include working with subject matter experts to produce technical press releases, technical agency reports and editing the work of others.
A strong writing background is required along with knowledge of and experience in writing for digital platforms (i.e. social media, email newsletters, and blogs). Strong organization and project management skills will serve this position well, as will critical time management and collaboration skills. An understanding of how stakeholders consume stories and news will aid the successful candidate. Familiarity with federal or state government and / or the transportation industry is not required but would be beneficial.

Pay range is $21.523 - $31.727 per hour. The pay rate may be commensurate with education and / or experience within fiscal constraints if approved.
JOB DUTIES :
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications : Bachelor's Degree in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations, advertising, graphic arts, digital media, videography, or related field and at least one year of experience in coordinating, planning, and managing public relations / publicity campaigns, mass media communication activities and / or public information programs. Required experience may substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.
