- Conducts criminal investigations throughout the agency.
- Works closely with the Central Intelligence and Gang Units of NDCS to develop and/or validate information on all possible criminal activity in the agency.
- Gathers, assesses, identifies, preserves and prepares evidence for court trials.
- Assists other law enforcement agencies in the investigation of criminal acts and testifies in court, as necessary.
- Prepares investigative reports which may be used for criminal prosecution.
- Serves as law enforcement liaison for the institution’s decision makers within the agency.
- Advises agency employees in the investigative process.
- Maintains case files for all criminal investigations.
- Participates In law enforcement technical training, committees and organizations to maintain and enhance investigative skills.
Requirements/Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field. Experience in a correctional setting and/or law enforcement may be substituted for education on a year for year basis. No felony of domestic abuse related convictions.
Preferred Qualifications: At least five years working in the field of law enforcement with criminal investigations experience. Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Other: Selected candidate must be Nebraska law enforcement certified and maintain law enforcement certification while employed in this role. Must have a valid driver's license. Applicant must pass a criminal background check. Applicants accepting the job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.
