Job Description:

Duties:
Manages/directs daily operations for a minimum-security correctional facility. Leads a team of over 100 custody personnel and directly supervises the Emergency Preparedness Specialist and the Captain. Facilitates the OCC mission throughout the custody department. Recognizes and develops team members. Builds positive working relationships across all OCC departments. Reviews and implements post orders, procedures, and policies which ensure security and control within and around the facility. Manages physical and operational facility security to include quality rounds of posts, inspection of the physical plant. Completes a monthly report for the custody department. Reviews daily rosters, shift reports, and overtime reports. Oversees entrance/exit/travel from the facility. Ensures systems checks/procedural assessments/security assessments are completed as designated by the NDCS security administrator. Participates in the Institutional Classification Committee, providing input and expertise from custody and security. Conducts administrative and PREA investigations. Conducts security audits at other institutions and prepares for internal security audits. Serves as a member of the Incident Management Team.
Requirements/Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Jail Administration or a related behavioral science area plus four years progressively responsible correctional experience, two years of which must be in a supervisory capacity; OR an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Jail Administration or related behavioral science area plus six years progressively responsible correctional experience, two of which must be in a supervisory capacity; OR post-high school coursework/training in Criminal Justice, Jail Administration or related behavioral science area plus eight years progressively responsible correctional experience, two of which must be in a supervisory capacity
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working for the NDCS. Experience successfully managing teams over the course of a career. Experience with security audits. Experience with leading long-term projects. High level writing and reviewing skills. Advanced leadership training.
Other: A valid driver’s license is required. Employees in this class are subject to random drug testing. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.
