Job Description :

The Judicial Branch is a state-funded Branch of Government that offers medical / dental / vision, $20,000 free basic life insurance, state-matched 156% retirement plan, 13 paid holidays, earned paid vacation and sick leave, and more.

This classification level is responsible for assisting the State Court Administrator and State Probation Administrator in providing leadership to multiple departments or divisions for Probation and Courts services, Human Resources and Finance Departments. Responsibilities may include directing the planning, development and implementation of personnel management strategies, functions, policies and processes; providing advice and assistance on court policies, procedures, services, and technology adoption; analyzing and implementing the budget polices; preparing reports; preparing and delivering testimony for legislative hearings as directed.

JOB DUTIES

1. Provides leadership in the design, implementation, and assessment of strategies, goals, policies, objectives, and activities over multiple departments or divisions; develops and oversees departments critical to the state system for courts and probation ongoing operations; coordinates activities between multiple departments or functions.

2. Provides overall direction and leadership to departmental / division managers, which may include : assigning projects and objectives; conducting performance evaluations; developing, motivating, and training employees; and making hiring, termination and disciplinary decisions.

3. Provides overall management and development of operating and capital budgets for assigned departments; reviews and approves expenditures as needed; solicits and monitors revenue.

4. Develops and maintains internal and external relationships; participates in a variety of meetings, committees, task forces, or related groups to communicate information regarding services, programs, areas of opportunity, and other information; represents assigned areas on committees and advocacy groups. Negotiates and manages contracts with external parties as necessary.

5. Monitors, reviews, edits, and approves plans for compliance with policies, procedures, and strategic objectives.

6. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

FUNCTIONAL SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES MIGHT INCLUDE :

The above classification responsibilities represent only the key areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the business needs of the department.

  • Deputy Administrator for Operations (N66582)- Responsible for directing overall division long-term planning, development, implementation and administration for specific departments supporting the state judicial system (such as internal and external communications, human resources, research and data generation)

Requirements / Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications : Master's degree in judicial, public, or business administration or a related field; and 5 years' experience in an administrative capacity, including experience in court or related administrative or professional work; or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.

Preferred Qualifications : Experience working for or within a court system / structure would be preferred.

The selected individual will need experience in all facets of human resources and performance management, research and data, and public information / communication. They will also have general oversight of interstate compact for adults and juveniles.

  • Using a computer and related software applications.
  • Communicating (orally and in writing) information, data, and opinions to inform, influence, and / or persuade a wide variety of individuals and internal / external audiences.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Sedentary Work : Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and / or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
