Job Description:
JOB DUTIES:
- Perform skilled carpentry, plumbing and electrical work in the maintenance of cabins, park facilities and building structures.
- Train temporary employees in the maintenance and operation of tools and equipment and act as a working leader in the supervisor's absence.
- Assist in the maintenance of sidewalks including removal of snow and ice with plow or shovel as necessary.
- Schedule and perform specialized preventative maintenance and repairs on agency vehicles and equipment.
- Clean, maintain and repair all tools, and equipment used in the performance of assigned tasks.
- Transport equipment and materials to maintenance and construction projects throughout the state.
- Perform related work as required.

Requirements/Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Associates degree or equivalent vocational education in construction, industrial engineering, HVAC, welding, or other building trade. Experience in building maintenance, a mechanical trade, or performing safety inspections, investigations or training may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis as determined appropriate by the agency.
Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license.
Other: Successful applicant must be available to work any shift as scheduled or in event of emergency. The ability to obtain a class “A” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with the “L” restriction (Combination vehicle without air brakes), within 60 days, will be necessary. Some overnight out of town travel will be required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of advanced methods, practices, tools and equipment used in building trades, maintenance and repair work.
- Ability to perform skilled work in the carpentry, plumbing and electrical trades; determine the materials and equipment necessary to repair building structures, equipment and fixtures.
- Ability to interpret and work from blueprints, sketches, operator manuals, maintenance manuals, layout designs and specifications.
- Perform work under temperature extremes (hot and cold); lift and move objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds; work in wet and dirty environments fixing water lines, sewer pumps, etc.
- Ability to work in cramped workspaces, above and below ground level; operate tools and equipment with sufficient manual dexterity as required, to perform the duties described above.
