Job Description :
The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Division of Operations in Financial Services, is looking for a strategic partner for the position of DHHS Grants Accounting Analyst . Examples of Work
This position is mission critical to the Agency. This position works in DHHS Financial Services and completes the financial reporting for federal grants. This includes :
- Expenditure monitoring, financial reporting, monthly meetings with programs, setting up federal grants, business units, and authorizations.
- Redistribution of authorization as needed, reconciliation of grants, reconciliation of administrative costs and indirect costs, journal entries, closing business units, monitoring for federal regulation compliance.
- Monitoring for DHHS policy / procedure compliance, updating policies and procedures as grant terms or regulations change or as new grants are received or expire, ensuring compliance with match requirements, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, internal controls of obligations of federal funds.
- Maintaining working relationships with federal partners and federal auditors, Auditor of Public Accounts responses and providing documentation as well as answering questions related to grants, SEFA / ACFR reporting for federal grants, addressing programmatic questions.
- Work with all internal and external stakeholders in the performance of these duties.
Requirements / Qualifications :
Minimum Qualifications : Post high school education in any of the following areas : accounting, finance, public or business administration, economics, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or related areas. AND / OR Experience in any of the areas above including responsibility for any of the following functions : fiscal or accounting systems analysis; budget analysis or preparation; cost / benefit accounting and / or analysis; design and / or development of accounting control and reporting systems; financial auditing; fiscal records, management; or related areas.
Preferred Qualifications : Experience with financial reporting of Federal grants. Microsoft Excel skills.
Other : Position is located on-site at the Nebraska State Office Building in Lincoln. No remote work.
