Job Description:
The Nebraska Department of Economic Development is looking for the next great addition to our Housing Team. The Nebraska Department of Economic Development Housing Team consists of seventeen staff, including regional program representatives, program specialists, application and compliance coordinators, a housing attorney and a team leader.
The Housing Specialist will work from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development office located at 245 Fallbrook Boulevard in Lincoln NE. The position requires frequent travel throughout the state. Occasional overnight trips can be expected, as well as out of state travel for trainings and conferences.

Job Duties: The main responsibility of this position will be to delivery technical assistance to support projects funded under federally funding housing programs. Collaboration and maintaining relationships with other state and federal agencies, community organizations, housing developers and private sector stakeholders to develop affordable housing is crucial to success. This position will provide grant management from application to closeout, including oversight, monitoring, data management, and reporting for compliance. Ability to understand and interpret state and federal regulations pertaining to federally funded housing programs is critical to the success in this position. Other duties as assigned within the scope of the job classification.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline related to the work assigned and two years of related experience. Experience may substitute for education on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with strategy and project management; housing development, community development, housing support services or programs, emergency management, or social services and case management. Experience with federal program administration including strategy, planning, program design, program management, data analysis, monitoring and compliance, and/or financial and grants management.
Other: This position requires frequent travel throughout the state. Occasional overnight trips can be expected, as well as out of state travel for trainings and conferences. As such, the incumbent must be able to present a valid driver’s license or another form of reliable transportation.
