Job Description:
As an HR Specialist, you will collaborate with the HR Business Partner (HRBP) team to provide operational, administrative, and strategic support for the Western Service Area of DHHS. Your work will ensure seamless HR processes and play a vital role in fostering a positive and collaborative workplace environment.
Position can be located in the following DHHS Offices: Scottsbluff, Chadron, or Sidney. Must report to Scottsbluff office weekly AND as needed if not housed full-time there.

Examples of Work
As an HR Specialist, you will:
- Coordinate HR programs, functions, and processes to ensure compliance with State Personnel rules and labor-management contracts.
- Collect and maintain critical data for areas such as FMLA, ADA compliance, and disciplinary actions, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Support employee recruitment and retention efforts through projects and initiatives.
- Serve as the primary HR contact for your support area, addressing employee and manager inquiries.
- Complete new hire paperwork and assist with orientation activities.
- Maintain personnel files and follow up on missing or required documentation.
- Attend and support employee trainings, meetings, and events.
- Will work from both the local office the customer service center, with occasional travel to other Western Service Area offices. Travel to Lincoln and/or Omaha is required at least twice per year.
Requirements/Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Two years of coursework or training in personnel management, business administration, public administration or office/administrative or three years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or 4 years human resources experience.
Other: Valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation for work-related travel. This is a full-time in office position. Remote work is not available for this position.
