Job Description:
Leads the database team in support of the development, implementation, and maintenance of computer applications. This role will work with various IT teams and customers to develop an understanding of data and information needs, identify and implement solutions, and improve the quality of applications while providing database administration support. Responsibilities of this role include database infrastructure, design, implementation, maintenance, security, backup and recoverability, troubleshooting, overall performance and other duties as assigned. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring availability and reliability of databases as well as collaborating with application developers to come up with strategic solutions to recurring problems. Additional daily tasks include completing service requests and resolving incidents and establishing and maintaining communication with customers to keep them updated with status of their requests.

Job Duties include:
- Installing, configuring, and upgrading Oracle software and related products.
- Applying Oracle patches and updates to keep the database up-to-date and secure.
- Installing and configuring Oracle client software on Windows servers and workstations.
- Performing database backups and recovery operations to ensure data availability and integrity.
- Monitoring database performance and capacity to ensure optimal performance and scalability.
- Troubleshooting and resolving database issues and errors.
- Developing and implementing database maintenance security policies and procedures to ensure data confidentiality and integrity.
- Designing and implementing database maintenance plans, including backup and recovery strategies, database optimization, and performance tuning.
- Managing database objects, including tables, indexes, and views, to ensure data consistency and availability.
- Participating in database and system architecture design and planning activities.
- Documenting database configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Installing, configuring, and upgrading Oracle APEX applications.
- Developing and delivering training programs to existing team members on database administration, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
- Conducting knowledge transfer sessions with team members to ensure that critical information is shared and retained within the team.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems, mathematics, engineering or other related field and two years of experience, education, or training in coding computer applications; programming experience can be substituted for education on a year for year basis, one year of which as a project coordinator, leader, or supervisor.
Preferred Qualifications: At least six years of education/work experience involving relational database; preference given for Oracle database administration.
Other: Regular and reliable attendance is required. Ideal candidate will possess knowledge of analytical problem-solving; attention to detail; excellent communication skills; ability to diagnose and troubleshoot database errors; ability to explain complex ideas in simple terms; good multi-tasking abilities; experience with Oracle Database; experience with creating good technical documentation and knowledge of logical and physical database design and theories.
