Job Description:
The Norfolk Regional Center is a psychiatric hospital providing inpatient mental health risk reduction treatment for individuals striving for community reintegration. The Psychologist will play a crucial role in our Behavioral Health Division, offering care and oversight to adult patients with mental illness. The incumbent will provide leadership to treatment teams, collaborate with interdisciplinary professionals, conduct comprehensive evaluations, and develop psychological treatment plans to support patient rehabilitation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead treatment teams, medical staff, and various hospital committees.
- Provide consultation on treatment plans and behavioral strategies.
- Train staff on psychological best practices and risk management techniques.
- Develop and write initial comprehensive treatment plans.
- Conduct individual and group therapy sessions.
- Perform psychological evaluations, including assessments of intellectual ability, personality, and risk for elopement, suicide, violence, and sexual re-offense.
- Participate in diagnostic staff meetings with the Psychiatry team to determine patient diagnoses.
- Provide expert testimony for mental health board hearings.
- Assist in program development and policy improvement.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate in Psychology. Licensed to practice psychology in Nebraska or eligible for a provisional license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One year of post-doctorate experience.
- Experience working with sex offender populations.
Salary: $60.00/hour (Licensed) | $55.28/hour (Provisionally Licensed)
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; occasional weekend shifts may be required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Expertise in psychological assessments and risk evaluation measures.
- Experience working with diverse populations, including individuals with intellectual disabilities and personality disorders.
- Strong collaboration skills with an interdisciplinary team.
- Understanding of the Nebraska Sex Offender Commitment Act and Mental Health Commitment Act.
- Ability to develop and implement psychological treatment programs and training initiatives.
