Job Description:
This position is located at 1313 Farnam Street in Omaha. The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 7am-4pm.
JOB DUTIES
- Schedules inspections and inspects passenger and freight elevators annually and on request in order to ensure public safety and to monitor compliance with State elevator inspection laws.
- Inspects elevators and escalators for a variety of factors including, but not limited to, proper electrical installation, brake operation, motor device operation, safe hoistway construction, interlock installation and operation, door closing pressure, and cable installation and maintenance to detect safety hazards, improper maintenance, and unsafe cables.
- Inspects plans, procedures, and blueprints of proposed elevator/escalator/moving walk installation, repair, or replacement to ensure proper installation, replacement or repair.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Incumbents shall be qualified by not less than five years' experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of elevators as determined by the State Fire Marshal, certification as a qualified elevator inspector by an association accredited by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, or not less than five years' journeyman experience in elevator installation, maintenance, and inspection as determined by the State Fire Marshal and shall be familiar with the inspection process and rules and regulations adopted and promulgated under the Conveyance Safety Act.
Preferred Qualifications: QEI Certified.
Other: Regular and reliable attendance is required. A valid drivers license is required as there is approximately 30% travel within this position.
